Edamame, Broccoli & Sesame Stir-Fry

Edamame and broccoli stir-fry scattered with sesame seeds

A fast, high-protein stir-fry that keeps things green: edamame and broccoli tossed through garlic, ginger and sesame in a light soy glaze. Filling for the calories, which is exactly what makes it a useful weeknight default.

Ingredients

Method

  1. Steam or blanch the broccoli for 3 minutes so it keeps its bite, then drain.
  2. Heat the sesame oil in a wok and fry the garlic and ginger for 30 seconds until fragrant.
  3. Add the broccoli and edamame, toss over a high heat for 3–4 minutes, then splash in the soy sauce.
  4. Scatter with sesame seeds and serve.

Why it works

For a modest calorie count you get a lot here: edamame is a rare complete plant protein, and together with broccoli it makes a genuinely filling dish that supports weight management through protein and fibre rather than restriction. The sesame seeds and greens also quietly add calcium for bone health.
